About Us
A family-run operation, the 'Team Newall' name was coined by various friends on encountering Paul and Carolyn, their two kids Jodie and Hugh, plus several horses in tow at competitions throughout Eastern Australia. Paul and Carolyn were involved with horses during childhood and teenage years, however life moved on and saw the equestrian connection fade. However, as a result, they knew just how much time, money and effort horses took, so unlike many young riders these days, Hugh and Jodie weren’t ’riding before they could walk.’ However Jodie always loved horses as a kid, and despite active discouragement by her parents, after a term of weekly riding lessons the horse bug was there to stay. Our first horsie acquisition was Marcoban aka Czar – a 16.3hh 16 year old chestnut Thoroughbred, when Jodie was 14. So that Hugh had something to do rather than sit in the car at the agistment paddocks while Jodie rode each afternoon, he got his first pony, Termite, when he was 9. After completing Year 12 Jodie deferred uni for two years to base at the NSW Equestrian Centre as a working pupil for Heath and Rozzie Ryan. Already an FEI competitor, it was at Lochinvar that Jodie rode horses from breakers to Grand Prix dressage horses and 4* eventers and was involved in all aspects of stud work and competition management. Having returned to Canberra to undertake her degree Jodie has continued to be involved in dressage at the highest level, competing at CDI*** and CDI-W competitions throughout Eastern Australia with a team of 5 horses. Sue Hearn coaches in Canberra on a monthly basis, and as a member of various State and National Squads over the last 6 years, Jodie has also benefited from the expertise of coaches such as Clemens Dierks, Ralf Isselhorst, Ton De Ridder and Stefan Van Inglgem along with Glennis Barrey and Roger Fitzhardinge.
With top quality young stock and broodmares, along with Dressage and Eventing performance horses, we now have 14 horses of our own – possibly a few too many, but our special retirees certainly enjoy having the run of the back paddock.
Located in Hall, NSW, we are only 25 minutes from Canberra Airport and 15 minutes from the City. We are currently developing our 100 acres of excellent farmland with the facilities required to further our performance goals. With a 60 x 25m all-weather arena, 20m rubber-lined round yard and paddocks currently accommodating 20 horses on an individual or shared basis, we’re not too far off completion.

High Calibre Magic R (Shae)
Genie's Magic C (Genie)
Stirling Scottische (Scottie)
Argyle (Argy) - SOLD

Argyle is a well-known FEI horse who was purchased by Jenny Campbell as a schoolmaster. After teaching Jenny, it came time for him to move on. He was essentially not in work and came to Jodie to be tuned up, competed and then sold. They competed at Grand Prix level and within 10 weeks of starting work with Jodie he was sold to a wonderful new home in QLD. (Pic courtesy of Jenny Campbell)
Maxx Jasper (Jasper) - RETIRED

Jasper is owned by Sue Steggles from the Hunter Valley in NSW. Having sat in the paddock for six-months without a rider, Jasper came to Jodie in late September 2011. They were thrown straight into the deep end, with their first Big Tour competition being the 2011 Saddleworld Dressage Festival in December. The combination really clicked, competing at Grand Prix level with wins and Championships already under their belts including straight wins at the Treehaven, Shoalhaven and Canberra Classic Championships. They had top 5 placings in the Grand Prix classes at the Boneo Park CDI*** and Sydney CDI*** and went top ten in their first World Cup Grand Prix at Dressage With The Stars.
Jive Matrix C (Julius)

Purchased by the Newall family as a 6-month-old foal, Julius has developed into an outstanding prospect. Until 2012 he competed primarily in Young Horse Classes, but also enjoyed wins, placings and champion awards at open competitions including the Albury, Bowral, NSW and Victorian Championships. His young horse classes saw wins and placings at Dressage With The Stars, the Sydney CDI*** and Boneo Park CDI***. He is now competing at Prix St George and Intermediare I level. Danse Avec Moi C (Madam)

Madam was the first horse Paul purchased through the Auction of the Stars auctions. Bought as a yearling, eight years later she remains his absolute pet. Incredibly talented she is currently competing at Medium Tour, whilst perfecting the Grand Prix movements. She has wins and placings at competitions such as the Sydney CDI***, Dressage With Altitude CDI***, NSW Championships, and the Albury, Shoalhaven and Central Coast Championships.
Kragelunds Donovan (Donnie)

Donnie was imported from Denmark but didn't click with his new owner, and was sent to Heath and Rozzie Ryan to be sold. Here Jodie found him and the rest was history. Having done a few Prix St George tests, Donnie liked doing things his way, but over the course of 5 years, Jodie took him through to Grand Prix level, having competed at every major competition on the East Coast along the way. He passed away in August 2011 (see his tribute in the News page).
Jive Mystic C (Jumungie)

Munge was bought at the same AOS auciton as Madam when he was 6-months old. He has many wins and placings at competitions including the NSW and National YR Championships, Central Coast, Shoalhaven and Albury Championships. Munge is currently training at Elementary level.
Bridgford Princess (Prinnie)

Princess was Jodie's second horse and a wonderful schoolmaster. They enjoyed many wins and placings at FEI level for two years, before soundness issues saw Princess retire to the back paddocks and make best friends with Czar.
Marcoban (Czar)

Worth his weight in gold, Czar was Jodie's first horse. No ponies, straight to a 16.3hh chestnut Thoroughbred gelding! Having sat in a paddock for 3 years, Czar and Jodie progressed through Pony Club to Young Rider and Open competition up to Advanced level. They also had wins and placings in Pony Club Eventing, Dressage, Showjumping and Jumping Equitation Championships and the Royal Canberra Show.
Arlington Park Agassi (Billy)

Billy is Hugh's third horse and was acquired in March 2010. Billy had huge shoes to fill, after the phenomenal 5 year partnership between Hugh and 'wonder pony' Corey (see below). Billy stepped up to the mark, and the pair have wins and placings to Elementary dressage and Pre-Novice eventing in Open and Young Rider classes at Dressage NSW, NSW State Eventing Championships at Goulburn, Camden Equestriad, Canberra ODE, Wallaby Hills Horse Trials and the list goes on. Their highlight to date was winning the Long Format Junior CCN at the Sydney International Three-Day Event.
Owendale Fleet Street (Corey) - SOLD

Corey the Wonder Pony. An absolute star - State and National Champion across Eventing, Dressage, Hacking, Showman and Showjumping competitions. Corey was Hugh's second pony. If we'd had him on trial, we would have sent him back, he was so naughty. However Hugh and Corey formed an incredible partnership and became just about unstoppable. Unfortunately we couldn't make Corey's legs grow, and at 13 he was too young to retire, so he was sold to the Coggan family in QLD. We couldn't have asked for a better home, and with the adorable Sarah Coggan, Corey has been able to continue his winning ways.
Winderadeen Winter Rose (Termite)

Hugh's first pony Termite. All you could ask for in a first pony, Termite was a brilliant leading-rein pony and totally adorable. She is now retired and acts as grandma for the young horses.
Garfunkle (Gus) - SOLD

Gus has been an absolute delight to have with us but through no fault of his own he is now on the market. He will make another rider a very special horse and we will really miss him.

Simsalabim (Sim) - SOLD

Sim is owned by Sydney resident Andrea Beatty who imported the mare from the famed PSI stables in Germany. She had her first competition outing with Jodie and is going from strength to strength. She has proven to be an absolute delight to have around and at only her second ever competition she scored over 70% in both Novice tests to take out Reserve Champion at the Canberra Classic Championships. When she first arrived she was straight out of the broodmare paddock and she could barely manage a full circle of canter. Eighteen months later she is ready to compete at Advanced/PSG. Sim is sadly for sale. Her ad can be viewed here: http://horsezone.com.au/category/240/Warmblood/listings/31611/Imported-German-Mare-Competing-at-Medium-Level.html
SS Welt Musik (Monkey Musik) - Retired
Bred and owned by Andrea Beatty, Musik is the latest addition to our team. By Welfenadel out of PSI Oktavia (the dam of SS Sonata Hit) Musik has incredible paces and has already enjoyed significant success with Jodie - placing at the NSW State Championships, winning several times at Clarendon with scores over 70% and taking out both the Prelim and Novice Championships at Albury with all scores over 70%.
